Ghana and C么te d鈥橧voire provides 70% of world鈥檚 cocoa, and according to research carried out by the World Cocoa Foundation, the average West African grower farms less than 3.5 hectares, with no access to irrigation or modern farming techniques.
A typical farmer, working outside of Fairtrade, lives on around 75p per day (far below the World Bank鈥檚 extreme poverty line of 拢1.40) and many are responsible for a household of up to eight family members.

We will hear from Daniel Amponsah, President of cocoa co-operative, Asunafo and Adam Brett, Founder of Tropical Wholefood, on the various challenges facing cocoa producers in the region, and how we are working together to overcome these.
